AUTISM AWARENESS CLUB
OBJECTIVE
Motivated by the desire to support my younger brother, Crosby, as he transitioned from his special education elementary class to my combined middle and high school, I founded our school’s Autism Awareness Club dedicated to promoting inclusivity, offering encouragement, and celebrating him and other students with cognitive disabilities.
MY ROLE
As founder and president, I established the club’s mission, recruited a diverse group of student participants, and spearheaded initiatives such as a campus-wide welcome campaign for students with disabilities. I also led service projects and fundraisers to make a tangible difference in our school community.
PROJECT ACHIEVEMENTS
I developed leadership and organizational skills while uniting students and faculty around a shared purpose. The Autism Club raised several thousand dollars, which funded the installation of a swing set designed specifically for my brother and other classmates with disabilities, leaving a lasting legacy of inclusion at our school.
